SBA Printing - what to print

Types of Printers available to you:

• Network Printers - each user should have all 6 workroom printers (Elementary, Middle School and High School workroom) installed. There are black and white as well as color laser printers (least expensive).  

• Individual Printers - on an AS NEEDED basis and if approved by the IT Department, there may be office/individual printers that may be laser printers (least expensive) but often are ink jet printers (most expensive).

• Student Printers (labs and libraries) - public access student printers are black and white laser printers.  

LIMIT YOUR PRINTING (printing techniques) - Be a good steward of God's resources!

• • LIMIT - Multiple copies - whenever possible, print black and white masters and copy them with the copiers

  • BEST - Print Black and White - limit the use of color printing, it only increases cost

  • IF NEEDED - Printing in color - ONLY print color if lesson plans or specific documents call for it (expensive way to print)

  • WORST - Inkjet printing - avoid this!  Although these may be in classrooms, this is the MOST expensive way to print!

  • Don't let the printer know you're in a hurry - They smell fear!

Common Printer Issues:

• • Clearing Printer Jams - follow the one screen instructions for clearing paper jams

  • Low Toner - please let each school's administrative assistant know if toner or other service is needed

  • Processing - at times print jobs get "stuck" in processing.  If this is the case, try turning the power off for one minute and turning it back on.  This clears the print job.  Try processing it again.

  • PRINTER DOWN? - Tell the respective Admin Assistant and they will place a service call.

Mobile Device Printing (AirPrint): MUST be on "SBA" or "Enroll" WiFi to print!

• iOS - Staff can print documents from their mobile devices by tapping "Print" from within the iOS App and selecting one of the named printers.  Most network connected printers will be listed.

• Android - Android users 

• Mac OSX - Printers are added by going to System Settings -> Printers & Scanners -> Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax... and you should see a list of available printers if you are on the SBA or Enroll WiFi.
